A calm week with Big Bass UK
I didn't expect to spend a whole week on Big Bass UK, but here we are. It's a fishing simulator, and I mean that in the gentlest way. There's no timer breathing down your neck, no leaderboard yelling at you. You pick a spot on a British river or lake, cast, and wait.
The casting mechanic is a single swipe, and the strength of the flick sets your distance. Reeling is where the small skill lives: you hold to reel and ease off when the fish fights, otherwise the tension climbs and the line risks snapping. It's a simple system, but reading each fish's pull becomes a quiet little game of its own.
What sold me was how well Big Bass UK behaves on a phone. It's mostly a still scene with soft animation, so my older test device stayed cool and the battery barely moved over long sessions. That makes it a perfect companion for a train ride or a slow evening.
My advice: turn the ambient audio up, drop the music, and play in portrait so you can hold it one-handed. Try the different lakes early rather than grinding one spot, since each holds different species and the variety is what keeps it from getting stale.
It won't be for everyone. If you want constant action, this isn't it. But as a wind-down game that respects your battery and your thumbs, it's an easy one to keep installed.
