Tideborn Tactics

★★★★☆ 4.3 Editor rating

Tideborn Tactics is proper thinking-cap strategy. Each map is a grid, the tide rises on a timer, and you position units to hold chokepoints before the water reshapes the battlefield. Planning two turns ahead is rewarded, and rushing is punished fast.

What I liked is how readable it stays on a small screen. Units are chunky, ranges are highlighted clearly, and you can undo a move before confirming, which saves a lot of frustration. The difficulty ramps steadily rather than spiking out of nowhere.

It sips battery because there's almost no animation between turns. Perfect for long sessions where you want to think, not react. Controls are all taps, and it works fine one-handed if you rotate to portrait.
