Which mobile genres actually spare your battery
We test heat and battery on every game, and over time the pattern is pretty clear. It's less about the studio and more about the genre. If you want long sessions without a charger, some categories are simply built for it.
Turn-based strategy and grid games are the kindest. Between turns almost nothing animates, so the phone idles. Simulators with static scenes, like fishing or building games, are similar. These are the ones I reach for on a long day out.
At the other end sit racers and heavy 3D RPGs. Constant motion, lots of effects, and high frame rates all add up. A twenty-minute race can warm a phone noticeably. The good news is most of these ship a graphics or effects toggle that buys back a lot of runtime.
A few practical tips: lower brightness first since the screen is usually the biggest drain, check for a data-saver or 30fps option, and close games fully rather than leaving them running in the background. Small habits, big difference.
